Legal Notice of Annual Fire District Election

LEGAL NOTICE
ANNUAL ELECTION OF THE GARRISON FIRE DISTRICT

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Annual Election of the Garrison Fire District will take place on December 12, 2017 between the hours of 5:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m. at the Garrison Firehouse located at 1616 US Route 9, Garrison, New York 10524 for the purpose of electing the following fire district officers:

  • One Fire Commissioner for a five (5) year term, commencing January 1, 2018 and ending December 31, 2022

All candidates for a District Office shall be residents of the Garrison Fire District and not convicted of any degree of arson. Persons seeking office must file a petition signed by not less than twenty-five (25) qualified voters of the Garrison Fire District stating the position they are seeking with the Secretary of the Garrison Fire District, at 1616 US Route 9, Garrison, New York 10524. Such petition shall be filed with the Fire District Secretary and must be actually received by the Fire District Secretary on or before 5:00 p.m. November 22, 2017 Petition forms are available at the Town of Philipstown Town Clerk’s Office, at Philipstown Town Hall 238 Main Street in the Town of Philipstown or from the Secretary of the Garrison Fire District at 1616 US Route 9, Garrison, New York 10524.

Any elector of the Garrison Fire District who shall be registered voter with the Putnam County Board of Elections on or prior to November 20, 2017 and who shall have resided in the Garrison Fire District for at least thirty days preceding such election shall be qualified to vote.
